Good morning Friday people and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again . Today we joyfully celebrate the 89th Texas born vocalist/ guitarist, actor, activist, DJ, and Air Force Veteran, Willie Nelson. Happy Birthday Willie ! With him in mind, we spotlight his 26th studio album, Somewhere Over The Rainbow. The LP was released February 1981 on the Columbia label and produced by Willie, Freddy Powers, and Paul Buskirk. It peaked at #31 on the Billboard 200, #23 in Canada, and #1 on the Top Country Albums chart. Two singles were released from the record, "Mona Lisa" (#11 Hot Country Songs, #7 Canada Country) and "I'm Gonna Sit Right Down And Write Myself A Letter" (#26 Hot Country Songs, #25 Canada Country). The album is a collection of older pop standards with jazz arrangements by Willie himself. Speaking of albums, Willie is kind of like David Bowie in a sense that he likes to release music on his Birthday. Today he released his 72nd album, A Beautiful Time.
