She used to hang on every word
Now she'd just as soon see me swinging
The solid pitter patter
The rain assures us
The sun ignores us
And fails to brighten our darkened daze
I smile subtly when I realize
That it's not water
But handfuls of soil
Being tossed at the coffin lids at our graves.
Could I have saved her
Instead I blame her
It's just that torture keeps us company
Death and misery create our harmony
And once again we sing the hymns that
Highlight our lows and swim in sin
Then when the ending is before us
We moan and wail for another chorus
