Good morning gang and welcome back to Saturday's Singles. Today we joyfully celebrate the 72nd Birthday to Seymour, Indiana native, singer songwriter and guitarist, John J. Mellencamp. Happy Birthdayy John ! He was born on 1951 and over the course of his nearly 5 decade career has gone by the monikers Johnny Cougar, John Cougar, John Cougar Mellencamp, and now John Mellencamp. He has released 24 studio albums, two live albums, four compilation albums, and 71 singles. Two of those singles are singled out for this Saturday's selections. "Crumblin' Down" was released  October 1983 on the Riva label, written by Mellencamp and  George Green and produced by John and  Don Gehman. The tune, hailing from his 7th studio abum, Uh-huh, reached #9 in Canada and on the Hot 100, #7 in Argentina, and #2 on the Mainstream Rock charts. It's B-side is  "Golden Gates", also from Uh-huh.

"Just Another Day" was released February 4, 1997 on Mercury Records, written by Mellencamp,  and produced by Little Bastard. It's parent album is John's 14th album, Mr. Happy Go Lucky. The song peaked at #81 in Australia, #46 Hot 100, #27 Mainstream Top 40, #24 Adult Contemporary, #13 Adult Top 40, Mainstream Rock, #9 Canada Adult Contemporary, #2 Adult Alternative Songs, #1 Canada Top Singles. It is b/w "Jerry" from the same album. Our copy is on cassette single.
