SATURDAY'S SINGLES - REO SPEEDWAGON and SUPERTRAMP

Good morning gang and welcome to the return of Saturday's Singles. Today we turn the dial back to this dayy in 1981, when  Champaign, Illinois based rock band, REO Speedwagon scored their first #1 hit with the "Keep On Loving You" (#7 UK) . The power ballad saw it's origins on their 9th studio album, High Infidelity , released on Epic Records. It's reign at the top was however short lived, lasting only one week before being replaced by Blondie's "Rapture". The B-side to "Keep On Loving You" is "Follow My Heart", also from the same album.

Our second selection takes us back to this day in 1950, when Roger Hodgson, when future vocalist, guitarist, keyboardist and founding member of progressive rock band, Supertramp, was born. Today we celebrate his 70th birthday with this song :

"The Logical Song" was released in March of 1979 on the A&M label. It came from the group's  sixth studio album, Breakfast in America and peaked at #1 in Canada, #3 in South Africa, #6 on the Hot 100, and #7 in the UK. It's B-side is  "Just Another Nervous Wreck" and it hails from the same LP.
