Our first selection today is by actress and singer Shelley Fabares, known for her work early on, on The Donna Reed Show, and later on the sitcom Coach. On this day in 1962, she had the #1 song in the land with, "Johnny Angel". It was released on Colpix label from her debut record, Shelley and produced by Stu Phillips. The B-side is a sequel to the A-side called "Johnny Loves Me".

Our second Saturday's Singles is the only #1 Bruce Springsteen ever had. "Blinded By The Light" was originally released on the Boss' 1973 debut album Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J. It failed to chart. Then in 1976 Manfred Mann's Earth Band released a cover from their 7th studio album, The Roaring Silence and it went to #1 on the Hot 100, the Cash Box and in Canada. It's B-side is "Starbird No. 2".
