Today we celebrate the 74th Birthday of English drummer and backing vocalist, Nigel Olsson, best known for his work with Elton John. Happy Birthday Nigel ! With him in mind, we shine a light on Elton's sixth studio album, Don't Shoot Me I'm Only the Piano Player. The LP was released January 26, 1973 on the MCA label and produced by Gus Dudgeon. It peaked at #16 in West Germany, #4 in Denmark, #2 in the Netherlands and Finland, and #1 in Australia, Canada, Italy, Norway, Spain, the UK, and on the Billboard 200. "Crocodile Rock" (#11 Netherlands, Billboard Easy Listening, #10 Ireland, #6 South Africa, #5 UK, #3 Belgium, Germany, Norway, #2 Australia, #1 Canada, Italy, New Zealand, Switzerland, the Hot 100 and Cash Box)  and "Daniel" (#27 Germany, #14 the Netherlands, #8 Norway, #7 South Africa, #5 Switzerland, #4 Ireland, UK, #2 Canadian Adult Contemporary, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Hot 100, #1 Canada, Billboard Easy Listening)  were released as singles.
