STUCK IN THE VINYL AGAIN - J.D. SUMNER & THE STAMPS - SOMETHING SPECIAL

Good morning Wednesday warriors and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again . Today we remember Lakeland, Florida native,  gospel singer, songwriter, and music promoter, J.D. Sumner    (John Daniel Sumner), on this, the 24th anniversary of his passing. He was born November 19, 1924 and died in 1998, age 73, from a heart attack, while on tour in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Throughout his career Sumner performed with several different vocal quartets, including Sunny South Quartet, the Dixie Lily Harmoneers, the Sunshine Boys, the Blackwood Brothers Quartet, The Stamps Quartet and The Masters V. For a time he held the Guinness World Record for the lowest bass note. Sumner also performed not only at Elvis Presley's funeral, but also his Mother's, Gladys Presley. Today we have J.D. on this 1972 Heart Warming Records release, Something Special, by J.D. Sumner & The Stamps. This record, any many others like it came from our good friend Brad, who gave us 600+ albums,  years ago. They belonged to his Grandparents and selling them or tossing them out wasn't an option. He wanted to find a good home for them with someone who would listen to the music and appreciate it. We do my friend. Thanks again.
