STUCK IN THE VINYL AGAIN - JOHN BARRY - SOMEWHERE IN TIME (ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK)

Good morning Wednesday warriors and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Today we celebrate the 72nd Birthday of English actress, Jane Seymour OBE (  Joyce Penelope Wilhelmina Frankenberg). Happy Birthday Jane ! She was born in Uxbridge, Middlesex to parents Mieke van Tricht, a nurse and  Benjamin John Frankenberg, a gynaecologist and obstetrician. In 1969 she appeared in her first film, Oh! What a Lovely War, and then in 1973 gained international stardom when she starred as the Bond girl, Solitaire in Live and Let Die. I will always remember her as Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, in which she played the title role for 6 seasons and the much shorter role as Genevieve Teague in Smallville where she played the Mother to Jensen Ackles' character, Jason Teague. Today we have her in the film Somewhere In Time. The movie, starring Christopher Reeve as Richard Collier, a college theater student who uses power of self-suggestion to time travel back to 1912 where he meets Seymour's character, Elise McKenna and falls in love. The cast is rounded out with Christopher Plummer, Teresa Wright, Bill Erwin. The film was released October 3, 1980 and directed by Jeannot Szwarc, and based on Richard Matheson's novel,  Bid Time Return. Based upon a recommendation by Seymour, John Barry was chosen to compose the score.

The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack was released in 1980 on MCA Records and John Barry and Michael Lloyd. The track,  "Rhapsody On A Theme Of Paganini" features pianist,  Chet Swiatkowsky, and the album's closer,  "Theme From "Somewhere In Time""
is performed by Roger Williams.

We bought this in a small lot of laserdiscs years ago, and for the longest time I thought it was a laserdisc, until I pulled the record out of it's sleeve.
