Today we remember New Mexico born  singer-songwriter, producer, activist, and humanitarian, John Denver, on this the 24th anniversary of his passing. He died in 1997, age 53, as a result of a plane crash over  Monterey Bay. He was the lone occupant. With him in mind, we spotlight his 6th studio album, Rocky Mountain High. Rocky Mountain High was released September 15, 1972 on the RCA label and produced by Milton Okun. It peaked at #40 on the US Country charts, #11 in the UK, #4 on the Billboard 200, and #1 in Canada. It has been certified 2X Platinum in the US. It 's three  singles were the title track (#39 Australia, #9 Hot 100, #8 Canada, #3 US Adult Contemporary, #2 Canada Adult Contemporary) , "Goodbye Again" (#88 Hot 100, #23  US Adult Contemporary, #103 "Hard Life, Hard Times (Prisoners)"). Among the musician's on the record is Eric Weissberg, most famous for his banjo heard in the 1972 film Deliverance.
