Good Tuesday morning to you all and welcome back to the stack of wax known as Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Today we are thrilled to wish Chicago born record producer, musician, songwriter, composer, arranger, and film and television producer, Quincy Jones, a very Happy 90th Birthday. Happy Birthday Quincy ! He was born Quincy Delight Jones Jr. on March 14, 1933 Sarah Frances, a bank officer and apartment complex manager, and Quincy Delight Jones, a semi-professional baseball player and carpenter. Over the course of Jones' 7 decade career, he has released better than 40 solo records, but it his his 27th one that is our subject of sound this Tuesday. Sounds...and Stuff Like That!! was released in 1978 on the A&M label and self produced. It reached #15 on the Billboard 200, #4 on the R&B album charts, and #1 on the Jazz charts. The 7 track album gav birth to one single, "Stuff Like That" (#34 UK, #24 Netherlands, #23 Canada, #21 Hot 100, #1 R&B). On the LP Jones is joined by a wealth of talent including Chaka Khan, Luther Vandross, Eric Gale, Bob James, Herbie Hancock, Ashford & Simpson, and more.
