STUCK IN THE VINYL AGAIN - STEVE MILLER BAND - LIVING IN THE U.S.A.

Good morning faithful readers and welcome back to the Thursday edition of Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Today we are thrilled to wish Milwaukee born songwriter, lead singer, harmonicist, keyboardist, and guitarist, Steve Miller, a very Happy 80th Birthday. Happy Birthday Steve ! He was born in 1943 to parents George and Bertha Miller.  Goeorge was a a physician known as "Sonny" who was also a jazz enthusiast and an accomplished amateur recording engineer. His Mother was a jazz influenced singer. In 1950 the Family moved to Dallas where Miller met musicians like T-Bone Walker, Charles Mingus, and Tal Farlow when they would come to his house to record. In no time he was teaching his Brother Buddy to play and instructing his classmate, Boz Scaggs, on chord progression so he could join his band, The Ardells. In 1966 they formed The Steve Miller Blues Band and backed Chuck Berry on his Live at Fillmore Auditorium album released that year.  In '68, as The Steve Miller Band they released their first record, Children of the Future, and followed it up with their sophomore release, Sailor. Today's selection,  Living In The U.S.A., is a reissue of Sailor released in 1969. It has the same track list with a different cover and should not be confused with the compilation album of the same name by SMB that was released in 1990.  Sailor reached #24 on the Billboard 200 and number 27 in Canada. My beatiful Wife has seen Steve Miller in concert at leat twice before we saw him together in 2015. She saw them August 5, 1978 at the Rock Super Bowl V, with Jimmy Buffet, Little River Band, South Paw, and Randy Meisner. Then again on May 6, 1996. Both these shows were in Orlando. Then we saw them together as co headliners with Journey with Tower OF Power as the openers. This was March 14, 2015 at the MidFlorida Amphitheatre in Tampa. I'll include the tickets we have.
