Dark Clouds Rain Down Tears Washing Away Swirling Colors From The Clown's Face..
Good morning gang and welcome to the return of Saturday's Singles, a Birthday edition. First up under our needle is the tune, "I Like Your Kind Of Love" by singer, actor, television host, and record producer, Andy Williams. Williams was born on this day in 1927 in Wall Lake, Iowa and passed away on September 25, 2012 in Branson, Missouri, age 84, from bladder cancer. Had he lived, he would be celebrating his 95th Birthday today. "I Like Your Kind Of Love" was released in May of 1957 on the Cadence Records 1323 label and produced by Melvin Endsley. It hailed from the compilation album, Andy Williams' Best and peaked at #16 in the UK, #10 on the Cash Box charts, an #8 on the Billboard Hot 100. It's B-side is "Stop Teasin' Me" from his first compilation album, Andy Williams.

Our second set of Birthday candles belongs to Jeffersonville, Indiana native and guitarist for the Southern hard rock band Molly Hatchet. Duane Roland was December 3, 1952 and passed away June 19, 2006 in St. Augustine, Florida, age 53, from 'natural causes'. Today would have been his 70th Birthday. Here he is on the title track to Molly Hatchet's second record, Flirtin' With Disaster. The song, perhaps their best known one, reached #42 on the Hot 100 and features the track, "Gunsmoke", from the same record on the flip side.

Dave Hlubek – guitar
Steve Holland – guitar
Duane Roland – guitar

To say the group has had a lot of members pass away, is an understatement. In addition to Duane Roland, we have also lost the members :
Vocalist Danny Joe Brown in 2005, age 53, kidney failure
Bass guitarist Riff West in 2014, age 64, after a lengthy illness
Drummer Bruce Crump in 2015, age 57, throat cancer
Bass guitarist Banner Thomas in 2017, age 62, pneumonia and rheumatoid arthritis (we met Banner in 2016 and got some vinyl signed, I'll enclose a picture of that)
Guitarist Dave Hlubek in 2017, age 66 heart attack
Vocalist Jimmy Farrar in 2018, age 67, heart failure
Singer Phil McCormack in 2019, age 58, heart failure
The band is now fronted by local musician Jimmy Elkins, from right here in Polk Country. He was formerly in a Molly Hatchet tribute band called Bounty Hunter. The group is expected to release a new album in 2023.
