Dark Clouds Rain Down Tears Washing Away Swirling Colors From The Clown's Face..
Good morning Sunday people and welcome back to Stuck In the Vinyl Again . Today we remember Inglewood, California native, singer songwriter, and founding member of the Beach Boys, Denis Wilson, on what would have been his 78th Birthday. He was born in 1944 and passed away December 28, 1983, age 39, from drowning. We honor his legacy by spinning the group's 10th studio album, Beach Boys' Party!. The LP was released November 8, 1965 on the Capitol label and produced by Brian Wilson. It peaked at #6 on the Billboard 200, #4 in Germany, and #3 in the UK. The album's sole single was "Barbara Ann", which reached #19 in Finland, #17 in the Netherlands, #11 in Belgium, #7 in Ireland, #3 in New Zealand and in the UK, #2 in Australia, Canada, Germany, South Africa, and on the Hot 100, and #1 in Austria, Switzerland, Norway, and the Cash Box Top 100. This album is considered an 'unplugged' album, as the instruments were acoustic. It is mainly a covers album and was recorded in the studio, with chatter by friends and family later overdubbed in to give the feel of a beach party. The record's front cover claims it came with a sheet of photographs depicting the band at the party, but those photos are long gone.
