Good morning gang and welcome to the return of Saturday's Singles, a Birthday edition. First up under our needle is the song "Temptation" by  Paducah, Kentucky native and saxophonist, Boots Randolph ( Homer Louis Randolph III). Boots was born June 3, 1927 and is perhaps known best for his song, "Yakety Sax". Today would have been his 9th Birthday. He passed away July 3, 2007, age 80, after suffering a brain hemorrhage. Today's selection, "Temptation" was published in 1933, with music written by Nacio Herb Brown and lyrics by Arthur Freed. It has been covered by  Bing Crosby, Artie Shaw, Perry Como, and others. Boot's version, released on the Monument label in 1967 hails from the album, Boots Randolph With The Knightsbridge Strings & Voices and reached #93 on the Hot 100 and #30 on the Adult Contemporary charts. It is backed with a cover of "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'", which was written co written by Phil Spector, Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil. Cynthia just passed away on June 1, 2023, age 82. Our second single is "Things That Make You Go Hmmm..." by hip hop/dance group C+C Music Factory. The track was released  June 12, 1991 on Columbia Records. It was written by 
Robert Clivillés and Freedom Williams and then produced by Clivillés and David Cole. David Cole was born June 3, 1962 in Johnson City, Tennessee. He passed away January 24, 1995, age 32, from complications from spinal meningitis. Today he would have celebrated 61st Birthday.  "Things That Make You Go Hmmm..." peaked at #31 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts, #27 in Germany, #26 on the Dutch Top 40, #19 in the Netherlands, #15 in Switzerland, #14 in Canada and Sweden, #12 on the Eurochart Hot 100, #11 on the UK Dance charts, #10 in Finland, #9 in Ireland, #6 in Australia, #4 on the Hot 100 and in the UK, #2 in New Zealand, and #1 on the Canada Dance/Urban charts, Billboard's  Dance Club Songs survey, and Dance Singles Sales chart.
