SATURDAY'S SINGLES : DORIS DAY and WAYNE NEWTON

Good morning gang and welcome to the return of Saturday's Singles, a Birthday edition. First up on our calendar full of candles and cake is Ohio born actress, singer, and animal welfare activist, Doris Day, who would have celebrated her 98th Birthday today. She was born in 1922 and died last May after having contracted pneumonia. Her song, "Secret Love" was released  October 9, 1953 on the Columbia label. The single peaked at #1 in the UK and on the Hot 100 and Cashbox charts. Both it and it's B-side, "The Deadwood Stage", are from the film Calamity Jane, in which Day played the lead role, opposite of Howard Keel. Speaking of films, word has it that Kaley Cuoco  will play her in an upcoming limited series event from Warner Brothers.
