Good morning faithful readers and welcome back to Saturday's Singles. First up in our way back machine is "The Cover of 'Rolling Stone" by Dr. Hook & The Medicine Show (later shortened to Dr. Hook). Today would have been vocalist Ray Sawyer's 83rd Birthday. He passed away on New Year's Eve 2018, age 81, after a short illness. "The Cover of 'Rolling Stone" was released October, 26, 1972 on the Columbia label and produced by Ron Haffkine. The song, from their sophomore release, Sloppy Seconds, was written by children's author, Shel Silverstein and peaked at #6 on the Hot 100, #3 in New Zealand, and #2 in Canada. It's B-side is "Queen Of The Silver Dollar".

Today also would have been vocalist Jani Lane of Warrant's 56th Birthday. He died of acute alcohol poisoning, in 2011, age 47. He is severely missed. This week marked 31 years since the release of Warrant's debut album, Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich (#10 Billboard 200) . Our second single comes from that LP. "Big Talk" was released November of 1989 on the Columbia label and produced by Beau Hill. It reached #93 on the Hot 100 and #30 on the Mainstream Rock charts. It's B-side is the tittle track, "D.R.F.S.R.".
