SATURDAY'S SINGLES : FRANK SINATRA and NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK

Good morning gang and welcome to the return of Saturday's Singles. First up under our needle is the song "My Way" by New Jersey born  singer and actor, Frank Sinatra (Francis Albert Sinatra). The song, written by Gilles Thibaut, Jacques Revaux, and Paul Anka,  was released in March of 1969 on the Reprise label and produced by Sonny Burke. It peaked at #29 on the Cash Box, #28 on the Canadian Top Singles chart, #27 on the Hot 100, #5 in the UK, #4 in Ireland, #2 on both the US and Cahadian Easy Listening charts. It is the title track to his 49th studio album and features the tune, "Blue Lace" as it's B-side. Today marks the 24th anniversary of Frank's passing. He died in 1998, age 82, after two heart attacks.

Our second selection is "Please Don't Go Girl" by Dorchester, Massachusetts boy band, New Kids On The Block (NKOTB). The single, hailing from their second record, Hangin' Tough, was released April 16, 1988 on Columbia Records. The song was written and produced by  Maurice Starr and reached #77 in Canada, #55 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, #39 in Spain, and #10 on the Radio and Records chart and the Hot 100. It's flip side is  "What'cha Gonna Do (About It)", also from the Hangin' Tough LP. 

Bandmember Danny Wood, who provides the spoken word portion of the track is celebrating his 53rd Birthday today. He joined the band at the age of 16 and is still a member.
