Good morning gang and welcome to the return of Saturday's Singles. First up, turning on our table is a song that was #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 on this date in 1970. "Venus" by Dutch rock band, Shocking Blue was originally released July 1969 on the Pink Elephant label and produced by Robbie van Leeuwen and Jerry Ross. In addition to clenching the top spot on the Hot 100, it also hit #1 in Australia, Belgium, Canada, France, Italy, New Zealand, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, the Cash Box, and the Record World charts. It has been certified Gold in the US and it's B-side is "Hot Sand". Our copy was released on Colossus Records.

The Columbia Records single reached #1 on the Hot 100, Austria, Canada Dance singles, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, UK Dance, Hot Dance Club Play,  Hot Dance Music/Maxi-Singles Sales, and the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles chart. Our copy is on cassette single and features  (The Slammin' Vocal Club Mix) Remix on the flip side.
