SATURDAY'S SINGLES - THE ASSOCIATION and BARRY MCGUIRE

Good morning gang and welcome to the return of Saturday's Singles, a number one edition. First up in our way back machine is the song "Cherish" by sunshine pop band The Association. The tune topped the charts on this day in 1966. It has been issued a month earlier on the Valiant label and produced by Curt Boettcher.  The track hailed from their debut album,  And Then... Along Comes the Association, also hit number 1 in Canada, features "Don't Blame It on Me", from the same LP, as it's B-side.

Our second Saturday's Singles comes to us a year earlier, in the form of the 1965 Dunhill Records release, "Eve Of Destruction" by Barry McGuire. The protest song, was written by  P. F. Sloan,  is the title track to Barry's second album and was #1 on this day in 1965. It's B-side is  "What Exactly's the Matter With Me", from the same album. It was his only #1 and his only top 40 hit.
