Good morning gang and welcome to the return of Saturday's Singles. First, we turn our way back dial to the year 1958, the label Mercury Records, the group The Platters, and the song "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes". It's from their Remember When? album, and reached #1 on Hot 100, R&B charts and the UK Singles chart. It is a cover song originally written by Jerome Kern and Otto Harbach for the 1933 musical Roberta and first recorded by Gertrude Niesen. The Platters' version has the non LP track, "No Matter What You Are" as it's B-side.

Next up as we travel back down through he musical memories timeline, is the 1960 tune "The Twist" by Chubby Checker. Originally a #28 hit for Hank Ballard and the Midnighters, Checker's version , from the album, Twist with Chubby Checker, reached #1 on both the Hot 100 and R&B charts and started a dance craze that is still synonymous with his name today. We have two copies of this 45, both on the Parkway, label, but one has "Twistin' U.S.A." on the B-side and the other has"Toot".
