First up, under our needle is New York born vocalist/guitarist, Cory Wells, best known as one of the 3 vocalists in the rock band, Three Dog Night. Cory was born in 1941, and would have celebrated his 81st Birthday today. He passed away in 2015, age 74 from blood cancer. We honor his legacy by spotlighting "One Man Band". The tune was released November 1970 on the Dunhill label and produced by Richard Podolor. The track hailed from their 5th Studio album, Naturally, and peaked at #19 on the Hot 100 and $6 in Canada. It's B-side is the title track to their 4th record, It Aion't Easy.

Our second set of candles belongs to Seattle born multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter and author, Duff McKagan. The bassist best known for his work in Gun 'N Roses was born in 1964 and is celebrating his 58th Birthday today. Happy Birthday Duff ! We get his party started with the song "Nightrain". "Nightrain" was released in 1989 on Geffen Records and produced by Mike Clink. It peaked at #93 on the Hot 100, #39 in Belguim, #26 on the Mainstream Rock charts, #21 in New Zealand, #17 in the UK, and #2 in Ireland. The tune hailed from the band's debut studio album, Appetite for Destruction and features "Reckless Life" on the flip side.
