Dark Clouds Rain Down Tears Washing Away Swirling Colors From The Clown's Face..
Good morning gang and welcome to the return of Saturday's Singles. First up we remember Nebraska native, and outlaw country music artist Tompall Glaser (Thomas Paul Glaser) on what would have been his 89th Birthday. He was born in 1933 and passed away August 12, 2013, age 79, after a long illness. To mark the occasion, we find ourselves spinning " Put Another Log On The Fire (Male Chauvinist National Anthem)". The single, hailing from his album, Tompall (Sings the Songs of Shel Silverstein) was released in 1975 on MGM Records and self produced. It peaked at #34 on the Canadian Country charts, #21 on the Billboard Country charts and #103 on the Hot 100. Both it and it's B-side, "Mendocino" were written by poet, cartoonist, songwriter, and playwright, Shel Silverstein, who you might remember from his extensive work with Dr. Hook, including writing the lyrics for "The Cover of "Rolling Stone" and "Sylvia's Mother".

Our second Saturday's Single comes to us from New York based jazz fusion rock band, Steely Dan. Co-founder Walter Becker, was born February 20, 1950 and passed away three years ago today in 2017, from esophageal cancer, at age 67. We turn our collective ear towards their song "Show Biz Kids" from their second record, Countdown to Ecstasy. The tune was released July 1973 on the ABC label and produced by Gary Katz. It reached $75 in Canada, and #61 on the Hot 100. It's flip side is "Razor Boy", also from Countdown To Ecstasy.
