Good morning faithful readers and welcome back to the Friday edition of Stuck In The Vinyl Again . Today we remember Jimmie Davis, singer songwriter, former educator and two term Governor of Louisiana who passed away on this day 21 years ago at the ripe old age of 101. At the time of his death in 2000, he was the oldest living Governor, having been born in 1899. In addition to his political career he appeared in several 1940s films, often playing himself and has been inducted into multiple Hall Of Fames, including the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Southern Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame, the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame, and the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. It's one of his gospel recordings that is our subject today. Old Baptizing Creek was released in 1971 on the Decca label and produced by Harold Beasley.
