Good morning Friday people and welcome to July 1st and Stuck In The Vinyl Again. It was on this day in 1969 that A.J. Marshall released his album, There's A Lot Of Lovin' In This Old Boy Yet, on the MGM label. Now you might be wondering who the fudge is A.J. Marshall ? Well that is a fair question. A.J. Marshall is an alias for Canadian singer and actor Norman Brooks (August 19, 1928 – September 14, 2006) (another alias, real name: Norman Joseph Arie). Brooks (or Arie, or Marshall) had an uncanny ability to sound like Al Jolson (A.J.?) and on this album, he did just that. He leads us through somewhat humorous and sometimes cringeworthy renditions of "Little Green Apples", "By The Time I Get To Phoenix", " Young Girl", "You've Made Me So Very Happy" and more. Truly a unique listening experience.
