Great Monday morning gang and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again . Today we remember New York City native, orchestra leader and composer, Hugo Montenegro, on this, the 42nd anniversary of his death. He was born September 2, 1925 and passed away in 1981, age 55, from emphysema. He is perhaps best known for his score of the 1966 film The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. Today we have him and Al Hirt working on the soundtrack to Viva Max ! . The film was released 1969 and directed by Jerry Paris and written by Elliott Baker and based on the 1966 novel of the same name, written by James Lehrer. It stars Peter Ustinov as General Santos, Pamela Tiffin as Paula Whitland, Jonathan Winters as General Hallson, and John Astin as Sergeant Valdez. The plot sees the group at the Mexico/ US border trying to get across in order to re occupy The Alamo.
Al Hirt and Hugo Montenegro team up for the soundtrack released in 1970 on the RCA Victor label and the cover art is by page favorite Jack Davis. Our copy was purchased a few years back at Lakeland's very own The Wax And The Needle.
