Good morning Wednesday warriors and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again . Today our record of choice is the sophomore effort from Scottish new wave/post-punk band, Altered Images. Pinky blue was released May 14, 1982 on the Portrait label and produced by Martin Rushent. It peaked at #23 in Australia, #12 in the UK, and #10 in New Zealand. Four singles were issued from the 11 track album ; "I Could Be Happy" (#45 US Dance, #30 Australia, #13 Ireland, #7 UK, #4 New Zealand) , "See Those Eyes" (#96 Australia, #11 UK, #7 Ireland) , the title track, "Pinky Blue" (#35 UK #24 Ireland) , and the Continental Europe-only release, "Song Sung Blue", a cover of the old Neil Diamond song, which failed to chart. The band, who were all members of the Siouxsie and the Banshees official fan club, somehow managed to get their demo tape into the bands hands and they were so impressed that they garnered a support slot on their Kaleidoscope British tour in 1980. This ultimately led to them being signed. Although labeled as new wave, at times the sound shares more in coming with the K-pop genre, featuring female vocalist , Clare Grogan's high pitched vocals over danceable electronica. Our copy was given to us by our sweet friend Kathy, my beautiful Wife's co worker at Treasure House Antiques and Collectibles in Winter Haven.
