Good morning Wednesday warriors and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Today we remember Houston born vocalist and keyboardist, Billy Preston, on what would have been his 74th Birthday. He died in 2006, age 59, from kidney failure. With him in mind, we spotlight his ninth studio album, The Kids & Me. The LP was released May 5, 1974 on the A&M label and self produced by Preston. It peaked at #17 on the Billboard 200 and spawned two singles ; "Nothing From Nothing" (#15 Easy Listening, #8 Hot Soul Singles, #1 Record World, Cash Box, Hot 100) and "You Are So Beautiful", which was later a top 5 hit for Joe Cocker. The album is dedicated to St. Elmo's Village, an inner city youth rec center in Los Angeles. (There's more on that in the pictures from the back of the album).
