Dark Clouds Rain Down Tears Washing Away Swirling Colors From The Clown's Face..
Good morning Sunday people and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Today we remember New York born pianist, trombonist, and keyboardist Dick Halligan, best known for his work with the jazz rock band Blood, Sweat & Tears. He was born in August 29, 1943 and passed away earlier this year on January 18, 2022, age 78, from natural causes. With him in mind, we spotlight BS&T's debut record, Child Is Father To The Man, The LP was released February 21, 1968 on the Columbia label and produced by John Simon. It peaked at #47 on the Billboard 200. Two singles were released , "I Can't Quit Her" and "I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know" but both failed to chart. This would be keyboardist/ vocalist Al Kooper's only album with the group. He left to pursue a solo career and was replaced by David Clayton-Thomas and Halligan started playing keyboards in Kooper's absence.
