Good morning Wednesday warriors and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Today we wish a very Happy 78th Birthday to folk singer-songwriter, author, and Poet, Bob Lind. Happy Birthday Bob ! Bob's debut album, Don't Be Concerned, was released in 1966 on World Pacific Records and was produced and arranged by Jack Nitzsche. It peaked at #148 on the Billboard 200 and spawned one single, the transatlantic hit "Elusive Butterfly" (#5 in America and the UK). Although he has a rather short catolog (4 albums in the 60s/70s and three in the 2000s), he has amassed quite a cult following and his songs have been covered by over 200 artists, including Glen Campbell, Sonny & Cher, the Cascades, Aretha Franklin, Dolly Parton, Eric Clapton, Nancy Sinatra, The Four Tops, Richie Havens, Hoyt Axton, The Kingston Trio, and Johnny Mathis. In addition to his prolific songwriting career, Bob worked at both tabloids, the Weekly World News and the Sun, and along with photographer Dick Kulpa is credited in creating the infamous "Bat Boy". He has also written 5 novels and a screenplay. His sound is varied and comfortable. I imagine fans of the aforementioned Glen Campbell, Barry McGuire, the Byrds, Dylan, Nils Lofgren, Lou Reed and Rod McKuen would find him right up their musical alley. Both Lynn and I thoroughly enjoyed the album and listened to it more than once, this week.
