Good morning Friday people and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Today we remember California born keyboardist and bassist, Larry Knechtel, best known for his session work with Simon & Garfunkel, Duane Eddy, the Beach Boys, the Mamas & the Papas, the Monkees, the Partridge Family, Billy Joel, the Doors, Jerry Garcia, and Elvis Presley, and as a member of the soft rock band Bread, on this, the 12th anniversary of his death. He passed away in 2009, age 69 from a heart attack. Out record today is the third studio album by Bread, Manna. Manna was released in March of 1971 on the Elektra label and produced by the band. It peaked at #21 on the Billboard 200 and #16 in Canada. Two singles were released ; "If" (#41 Australia, #6 Canada, #4 Hot 100, #1 Adult Contemporary) and "Let Your Love Go" (#34 Australia, #24 Hot 100). Knechtel does not appear on this album, as he would join the band later that year, replacing Robb Royer, so we remember him in absentia.
