Good morning Sunday people and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again . Our record of the day is kind of our record of the month as we present this promotional DJ broadcast sampler (Not For Sale) from March 1966, from Capitol Records. It's full of great pop standards from well known artists of the day, such as, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Peggy Lee, and Jackie Gleason, as well as artists I wasn't familiar with like, Guitars Unlimited and The Hollyridge Strings. Speaking of the latter, they have two tracks on here, both from their The New Beatles Song Book. The second selection "Girl" is scratched out on the track listing on the back cover. I got to wondering why and then looked up the infamous "more popular than Jesus" remarks by John Lennon and what do you know, that also happened in March 1966 .... ( I'm not saying that's the reason, as the other Beatles' song has a check beside it, but still it's interesting .)
In case you are wondering, this and all the ones we have like this came from the now Legendary J.R.'s Junk Trunk.
