STUCK IN THE VINYL AGAIN - DAVE MASON - OLD CREST ON A NEW WAVE

Good morning faithful readers and welcome back to the Thursday edition of Stuck In The Vinyl Again . We didn't want the week to get away without wishing English singer-songwriter and guitarist, Dave Mason, a belated Birthday. He was born May 10, 1946 and just yesterday celebrated his 77th Birthday. With him in mind, we spotlight his ninth studio album, Old Crest On A New Wave. The LP was released June 15, 1980 on the Columbia label and was produced by Mason and Joe Wissert. The album's sole single is "Save Me", an unlikely duo with the King Of Pop, Michael Jackson. That song reached #71 on the Hot 100 and #70 on the R&B charts. The disc also includes a song written by our good friend Les Dudek and both Mike Finnigan and Jim Kruger, who were in the group,  The Dudek-Finnigan-Krueger Band, also appear on the record.  37 years to the day of releasing this record, we saw Mason live in concert in Orlando at the Plaza, on June 15, 2017. As we were walking in FB decided to delete my old account and in that moment I became Ziggy. As the show started Mason asked that we take no pictures or video, and even sent a usher to walk the rows. I snapped two pics anyway and will share them in the pictures area below. Dave also butchered "The Low Spark Of High Heel Boys", turning it into some island version. After the show my beautiful Wife, Lynn, met him and got a couple of records signed. I went outside, disgruntled and thought about how I would write about the moment for years to come. I was right.
