Good morning Wednesday warriors and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Today we take a look at one of rock 'n rolls darker chapters, with the tale of drummer Jim Gordon's horrific murder of his mother. If you'd listen to music in the past 45 years, chances are you've heard Jim Gordon. Whether it be on albums by Duane Allman, Joan Baez,The Beach Boys, Bread, The Byrds,The Carpenters, Cher, Harry Nilson, Eric Clapton, Alice Cooper, Burton Cummings, Neil Diamond, Donovan, Merle Haggard,Hall & Oates, B.B. King, Carole King, Randy Newman, Tom Petty, Elvis, Minnie Ripperton,Traffic, Frank Zappa and many, many more.

On this day in 1983 Jim attacked his Mother, Osa Marie Gordon,(Rest in peace Mrs. Gordon.) with a hammer before fatality stabbing her with a butcher knife. He claimed voices in his head told him to do it. He was eventually sentenced to 16 years to life in prison and has been up for parole a total of ten times and been denied every time. He is currently serving his time in in the California Medical Facility in Vacaville, Calif.

Today we look at his work on the double live album, In Concert, by Derek And The Dominoes. In Concert was recorded October 23rd and 24th, 1970 at at the Fillmore East and then released in January 1973 on Polydor Records. It has been certified Gold in the US.
