In addition to our 6 year Birthday, it is also the 24th anniversary of the untimely death of  Australian musician, singer-songwriter and actor, Michael Hutchence. The INXS front man died on this day in 1997, age 37 from suicide by hanging. He is severely missed. We take a look and a listen to both his musicianship and acting with this 1986 Atlantic Records promotional copy of the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack to the film Dogs In Space. The movie debuted in 1986 and was directed by  Richard Lowenstein. It was set in Australia in 1978 in the "Little Band" post punk scene and centers around Hutchence's character, Sam, the drug addicted vocalist for the fictitious band Dogs In Space. In addition to the role, Michael provides 4 songs for the soundtrack that also features predominantly Australian artists such as Ollie Olsen, Marching Girls, Boys Next Door, The Primitive Calculators, and Marie Hoy, and Thrush Of C*nts. Iggy Pop makes two appearances on the record, and we also get one song from Gang Of Four and one from Brian Eno. Overall the album is an enjoyable trip, heavy on the post punk and a bit industrial. It peaked at #46 in Australia.
