STUCK IN THE VINYL AGAIN - ELVIS PRESLEY - BLUE HAWAII

Good morning record enthusiasts and welcome back to the Sunday edition of Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Today we remember Los Angeles born stage, film actress and dancer, Iris Adrian (real name : Iris Adrian Hostetter) on what would have been her 110th Birthday. She was born in 1912 and passed away on September 17, 1994, age 82, from injuries sustained during the 1994 Northridge earthquake eight months earlier. During her seven decade career Iris starred in countless film and television roles like The Vagabond King, Mighty Joe Young, The Odd Couple, Herbie Goes Bananas, The Love Boat,  Get Smart, Green Acres, Petticoat Junction, and The Munsters, to name a few, but it is her role as Enid Garvey, in the Elvis Presley film, Blue Hawaii, that is our subject of sound today. Blue Hawaii, the movie, was released November 22, 1961 by Paramount Pictures and the soundtrack was released October 20, 1961 on the RCA Victor label. The film,  directed by Norman Taurog, stars Elvis Presley, Joan Blackman, Angela Lansbury, and Nancy Walters and revolves around Presley's character  Chadwick "Chad" Gates who has just ended his time in the Army when he returns to Hawaii and must choose between working at his Family's Great Southern Hawaiian Fruit Company or following his dreams. The soundtrack album peaked at #63 in Australia, #46 in Sweden, #39 in New Zealand, #17 in Germany, and #1 in the UK and on the Billboard 200.
