Dark Clouds Rain Down Tears Washing Away Swirling Colors From The Clown's Face..
Good morning Sunday people and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Today we remember Elvis Aaron Presley, the King of Rock N' Roll, on this, the 43rd anniversary. The icon, born January 8, 1935, passed away on this day (8/16) in 1977, age 42, from a heart attack. To commemorate the date we spotlight this 1978 RCA compilation, Elvis: A Legendary Performer Volume 3. The LP reached #113 on the Billboard 200, #43 in the UK, and #10 on the Country Album charts. It has been certified Gold in the US. The album, unsealed before it's opening (which you can see the opening video at the YouTube link down near the pictures section) collects previously unreleased and available tracks from the 1956-1970 era, including an interview with Elvis and Colonel Tom Parker, right here in Lakeland on August 6, 1956, the date when he played at Lakeland's historic Polk Theatre. I will also include an article link about his visit to Lakeland. The record comes with a 'memory log' that kind of resembles a scrapbook with photos, newspaper clippings and a 4 page full color run that is suitable for framing.
