Dark Clouds Rain Down Tears Washing Away Swirling Colors From The Clown's Face..
Good morning record enthusiasts and welcome to the Sunday and Mother's Day 2021 edition of Stuck In The Vinyl Again. We take a little time today to say how much we love and appreciate all you wonderful Moms for putting up with all of us undeserving offspring. Today's record comes to us via the short lived sunshine pop band, from New York, New York, called Every Mother's Son. The group released their self titled debut on the MGM label in 1966. It reached #117 on the Billboard 200 and was produced by Wes Farrell, who also wrote the song, "Hang On Sloopy". Their best known song, "Come And Take A Ride In My Boat" leads the album and was it's only single (#6 Hot 100). It's a cover of The Rare Breed's song, released earlier that same year, "Come And Take A Ride In My Boat". It was co -written by Wes Farrell and Jerry Goldstein, and although their version did not chart, they would find success less rare, after they became the Ohio Express. In addition to all that jazz, today is also the Birthday of the band's pianist, and now a dentist, Bruce Milner. He turns 78 today. Happy Birthday ! Every Mother's Son would release a follow up album, Every Mother's Son's Back, before calling it quits. Guitarist Dennis Larden would later join Ricky Nelson's Stone Canyon Band and drummer Christopher Augustine would play with Rick Derringer.
