Dark Clouds Rain Down Tears Washing Away Swirling Colors From The Clown's Face..
Good morning audiophiles and welcome back to the Friday edition of Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Today we remember Don Van Vliet, the California born singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and visual artist known the world over as Captain Beefheart, on what would have been his 80th Birthday. He passed away in 2010, age 69, from complications from multiple sclerosis. He is severely missed. To honor his legacy, we spotlight this collaborative album between he and Frank Zappa and The Mothers, Bongo Fury. Bongo Fury is a hybrid live album with studio elements that was released October 2, 1975, on the DiscReet label and produced by Frank Zappa. It peaked at #66 on the Billboard. It's a notable entry in Zappa's catalogue as it is the last featuring his 70s band and the last to bear The Mothers' moniker. The end of "Muffin Man" has one of the best band introductions I've ever heard. It always makes me smile.
