Today we remember New York City born engineer and electronic music pioneer, Robert Moog, best known for the instrument that bears his name, the Moog synthesizer. Robert was born May 23, 1934 and passed away August 21, 2005, age 71, from a brain tumor. Today would have been his 89th Birthday. To honor his legacy, we find ourselves spinning this 1973 Athena Records release, Nashville Gold (Switched On Moog) by Gil Trythall, The LP sees Gil with instrumental versions of "Poke Salad Annie", " Ode To Billy Joe", "King Of The Road", and more, He closes out the album with an original composition, Nashville Moog. Gil was a composer and pianist of contemporary classical music and older Brother of composer and pianist Richard Aaker Trythall. Gil was born October 28, 1930 and passed away recently on February 17, 2023, age 92.
