Good morning record enthusiasts and welcome back to the Thursday edition of Stuck In The Vinyl Again . Today we joyfully celebrate the 72nd Birthday of Hank Williams Jr. . Happy Birthday Hank ! To commemorate the date, we shine a light on his 29th studio recording, Family Tradition. Family Tradition was released April 17, 1979 on the Elektra/Curb labels and produced by Jimmy Bowen, Phil Gernhard, and Ray Ruff. The LP peaked at #201 on the Billboard 200, and #3 on the Top Country Albums chart. The title track was released as a single (#16 Canada Country Tracks, #4 Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles, #4 Hot Country Songs).
Hank's kids have continued to carry on the family traditions with their own music careers including Hank Williams III, Holly Williams, Hilary Williams, Samuel Williams and more recently Coleman Williams, grandson of Jr and son of III, who goes by the name of IV and the Strange Band.
