STUCK IN THE VINYL AGAIN - IAN HUNTER - YOU'RE NEVER ALONE WITH A SCHIZOPHRENIC

Great Monday morning gang and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again . Today we celebrate the 86th Birthday of Philadelphia native, and jazz saxophonist, George Young (not to be confused with Australian musician, producer, and Brother to Malcolm and Angus Young). Happy Birthday George. He was a member of Mike Mainieri's jazz-rock big band White Elephant Orchestra, a member of the SNL band, as well as a sessions musician for James Taylor, Walter Murphy, Quincy Jones, and Yoko Ono. Today we have him on the fourth solo studio album from former Mott The Hoople vocalist, Ian Hunter. You're Never Alone With A Schizophrenic was released March 27, 1979 on the Chrysalis label and was produced by Hunter and Mick Ronson, known for his work with David Bowie and others. It peaked at #68 in Australia, #49 in the UK, and #35 on the Billboard 200. Three singles were released ; "Just Another Night" (#68 Hot 100), "When the Daylight Comes" (#108 Hot 100), and "Ships" (did not chart). The latter would be covered by Barry Manilow on his One Voice album. A note of particular interest is the song "Cleveland Rocks" which would be covered by The Presidents of the United States of America and used as the theme song for  The Drew Carey Show in 1997. Hunter's backing band on this LP can't be beat, as it includes the aforementioned Mick Ronson, three members of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, the Velvet Underground's John Cale, Ellen Foley, known for her work with Meat Loaf and Eric Bloom from Blue Oyster Cult.
