Good Tuesday morning to you all and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again . Today we remember gospel singer, songwriter, and music promoter, J. D. Sumner, on this, the 23rd anniversary of his death. The Lakeland, Florida native passed away in 1998, age 73, from a heart attack three days before his 74th Birthday. Throughout his career Sumner performed with several different vocal quartets, including Sunny South Quartet and Dixie Lily Harmoneers, the Sunshine Boys, the Blackwood Brothers Quartet, The Stamps Quartet and The Masters V. Today our focus is on The Stamps album, J. D. Sumner and the Colorful Stamps Quartet. The LP was released in 1967 on Skylite Records and features James Blackwood, Jr. of The Blackwood Brothers on baritone vocals.
