Good morning faithful readers and welcome back to the Thursday edition of Stuck In The Vinyl. I'm coming to you live from the SITVA Central Florida Command Bunker as Hurricane Ian pushes through the state bringing much rain and noisy wind. Our mission today is to weather the storm and celebrate the 80th Birthday of French jazz violinist and composer, Jean-Luc Ponty. Happy Birthday Jean-Luc ! In addition to his work with Frank Zappa, Ponty is also known as a bandleader himself, releasing over 40 albums, but it his his 14th record, Aurora, that is our subject of sound today. Aurora was released February 26, 1976 on the Atlantic label and self produced. It peaked at #123 on the Billboard 200 and #14 on the Jazz Albums chart. On the disc Ponty is joined by another Zappa bandmate, Tom Fowler on bass. For some reason, at some point, someone has affixed some Christmas stickers to the front cover of our copy.
