Dark Clouds Rain Down Tears Washing Away Swirling Colors From The Clown's Face..
Good morning, morning people and welcome back to the Friday edition of Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Today we celebrate the 77th Birthday of Texas native, guitarist, and vocalist, Richard Bowden, best known as one half of the country comedy duo, Pinkard & Bowden. Happy Birthday Richard ! He got his start in high school forming a band called Shiloh, with Don Henley. That duo split up when Bowden wanted to go more country and Henley wanted more rock. Jim Ed Norman, also a member of Shiloh, introduced Richard to bassist Sandy Pinkard, and Pinkard & Bowden. They are similar to Humor & Jethro are as a parody country group. Today we find ourselves spinning their debut record, Writer In The Disguise. The LP was released in 1984 on Warner Brother Music and produced by Pinkard, Bowden, and Jim Ed Norman. It peaked at #47 on the Top Country Albums chart and saw the two singles issued; "Adventures In Parodies" (#64 Hot Country Songs) and "I Lobster But Never Flounder" (did not chart). Among the guests on the album are Dan Fogelberg, Glenn Frey, Jackson Browne, Jennifer Warnes, Anne Murray, The Osmond Brothers, David "Kung Fu" Carradine, Michael Martin Murphey, and Don Henley.
