Dark Clouds Rain Down Tears Washing Away Swirling Colors From The Clown's Face..
Good morning record enthusiasts and welcome back to the Thursday edition of Stuck In The Vinyl Again . Today we remember New York City born drummer and vocalist, Spencer Dryden, best known for his work with Jefferson Airplane and New Riders of the Purple Sage. He would have celebrated his 85th Birthday today, but his life was cut short by colon cancer on January 11, 2005. He was 66. We honor his legacy by spinning Jefferson Airplane's 4th studio recording, Crown Of Creation. Crown Of Creation was released August 18, 1968 on the RCA Victor label and produced by Al Schmitt. It peaked at #6 on the Billboard 200 and gave way to two singles, the title track (#64 Hot 100) and "Greasy Heart" (#98 Hot 100). Among the guests on the album, are Zappa alumni, Arthur Tripp on percussion, and David Crosby on guitar.
