STUCK IN THE VINYL AGAIN - LEADBELLY - THE LIBRARY OF CONGRESS RECORDINGS

Good morning Thursday people and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Today we celebrate what would have been the 134th Birthday of Louisiana born folk and blues singer and  musician, Huddie William Ledbetter, also known as Leadbelly. Now I say we celebrate today but depending on where you look you might find a different date. I've seen the 15th, the 20th, 21st, and 23rd. I've even seen the year 1888 called into question, but The Lead Belly Foundation gives 01/20/1888 as the date and that's good enough for me. With him in mind, we proudly present this 3 record box set, The The Library Of Congress Recordings. These songs were oroginally recorded by Alan Lomax and John A. Lomax in Washington, D.C. in 1934. Our set, which includes the 23 page booklet with liner notes, photographs, and lyrics was released in 1976 by Elektra Records. It is broken up into 7 sections :

Texas, Louisiana, Barrelhouse

Square Dances, Sooky Jumps, Reels

Penitentiaries

Spirituals

Blues

Ballads

Topical, Protest

My beautiful Wife Lynn came home from work this week with this. I did not complain.
