Good Tuesday morning to you all and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Today we remember Ohio born actor, film director, race car driver, and entrepreneur, Paul Newman, on what would have been his 96th Birthday. He passed away in 2008, age 83, from lung cancer. With him in mind we spotlight, The Original Soundtrack Recording to the film, The Life And Times Of Judge Roy Bean. The movie, directed by directed by John Huston, was released in December 18, 1972, stars Newman in the titular role, opposite Victoria Principal, in her film debut. The story has Newman's Roy Bean ride into the Texas town of Vinegaroon, where he is promptly beaten, robbed, and has a noose tied around him and dragged off by a horse. He is found and helped by Victoria Principal's character Maria Elena. When he heals and returns he takes vengeance on those who wronged him and installs himself as Judge in the lawless town. The soundtrack was released in 1973 on Columbia Masterworks label and produced by Maurice Jarre who also serves as composer and conductor. Paul Newman takes on the lead vocal role in one song, and Andy Williams in another.
