Dark Clouds Rain Down Tears Washing Away Swirling Colors From The Clown's Face..
Good Monday morning gang and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Today we remember Pittsburgh born actor, dancer, singer, filmmaker, and choreographer, Gene Kelly, on what would have been his 109th Birthday. He died in 1996, age 83, after a series of strokes. We mark the occasion by spinning the soundtrack to the 1974 MGM compilation film That's Entertainment. The famous film collects MGM's musical movies from the 20s to the 50s with archival footage from such stars as Judy Garland, Eleanor Powell, Lena Horne, Esther Williams, Ann Miller, Kathryn Grayson, Howard Keel, Jeanette MacDonald, Cyd Charisse, June Allyson, Clark Gable, Mario Lanza, William Warfield, and many more including Singin' in the Rain sung by Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds, Donald O'Connor. We have two copies of the record, a VHS tape of the movie as well as a copy of it on Capacitance Electronic Disc (CED) (see pictures).
