Dark Clouds Rain Down Tears Washing Away Swirling Colors From The Clown's Face..
Good morning audiophiles and welcome back to the Friday edition of Stuck In The Vinyl Again. In addition to Friday, it is also the 53rd Birthday of Ohio born multi - instrumentalist, vocalist, and producer, Dave Grohl. Happy Birthday Dave ! Known primarily for his drumming in iconic grunge band Nirvana and later as leader of his own band the Foo Fighters, Dave has also worked with the punk rock band Scream, the rock supergroup Them Crooked Vultures, Queens Of The Stone Age, and Tenacious D. He and the Foo Fighters are looking to release their 10th album next month along with a horror comedy film, Studio 666.
We take at look and a listen to Dave's Nirvana debut, their second record, Nevermind. Nevermind was released September 24, 1991 on the DGC label and produced by Butch Vig and Nirvana. Thirty years ago this week it peaked at #1 on the Billboard 200 as well as clenching the top spot in Australia, Belgium, Canada, Finland, France, Greece, Ireland, Portugal, and Sweden. Four singles were released ; "Smells Like Teen Spirit" (#1 Australia, Belgium, France, New Zealand, Spain, US Alternative Airplay) which we have on cassette single, "Come As You Are" (#5 Belgium, #3 New Zealand, Mainstream Rock, Alternative Airplay, #2 AOR Tracks) which we have on DC single, "Lithium" (#64 Hot 100, #48 Cash Box, #25 Alternative Airplay, #16 Mainstream Rock, #7 AOR Tracks, #5 Ireland, #4 Portugal, #1 Finland), and "In Bloom" (#10 Portugal, #7 Ireland, #5 Mainstream Rock, AOR Tracks. I bought my first copy of this album shortly after it came out on cassette at the Quikway convenience store that was right next to my house in Bonifay Florida. We have both CD versions with and without the hidden track "Endless Nameless". We have the 20th anniversary "Super Deluxe Edition" box set on CD/DVD and now we have the 30th anniversary vinyl release featuring the newly remastered on 180-gram vinyl with a premium gatefold jacket and bonus 45 with the aforementioned "Endless Nameless" on the A side and "Even In His Youth" and "Aneurysm" on the flip side.
