Today we celebrate the 77th Birthday of English guitarist, vocalist, and founding member of the English rock band the Who, Pete Townsend. Happy Birthday Pete ! With him in mind, we spotlight his second solo LP, Empty Glass. Empty Glass was released April 21, 1980 on the Atco label and produced by Chris Thomas. It peaked at #40 in Norway, #28 in Australia, #21 in New Zealand, #11 in the UK, #5 on the Billboard 200, and #1 on Radio And Records. Four singles were released from the 10 track album ; "Rough Boys" (#89 Hot 100, #39 UK), "Let My Love Open The Door" (#82 Australia, #46 UK, #11 Cash Box, #9 Hot 100, #5 Canada), "A Little Is Enough"(#72 Hot 100), and "Keep On Working" (did not chart). The album is a bit new wave but thoroughly enjoyable.
